Jonathan, FG, & PDP Ruinous Adventure Of Governance - Comr Abba Talba

Jonathan, FG, And PDP’s Ruinous Adventure Of Governance - Comrade Abba Talba
It is now clear that President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) do not mean well for this country. It is either they win the elections or they collapse the country. How can a government plan evil against its own people? Why have they conspired to destroy this country if they cannot have her? They have forced the postponement of the February elections for starters. They hope to further shift the polls if they feel their chances of winning are not bright enough.

Why have they elected to keep shifting the goal post of the elections in the name of the military prosecuting an insurgency war? This is not far fetched because they know that the veil will be lifted on their activities in government which will not but shock Nigerians. They know that the 400,000 barrels of crude stolen per day in Nigeria is unacceptable. They also know how much they pay both conventional and unconventional security forces to keep the pipes safe. They know as well that those paid to keep the pipes have not only helped themselves with the crude they are supposed to safeguard, they also act as conduit to highly placed government officials in this administration. They want the status quo to remain to be able to keep their loot. That is why they threaten Armageddon should Jonathan lose election. Come to think of think why should a candidate and his supporters be afraid of failure at the polls yet they keep claiming they they have ‘transformed’ Nigeria? For instance, in August 2014, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that some ex-militants in the Niger Delta had been paid about N6.32bn within the past one year by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), yes, for providing security against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft. However, over 400,000 barrels which roughly amounts to $20.4bn annually has been stolen in the last three years.

But Nigeria cannot continue this way. Today we have a corrupt government that has spread corruption to both secular and spiritual institutions across the country. We hear that N7bn has be released to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to make them spew forth hate messages from their pulpits against the candidate of the presidential candidate of the APC. Even as these ‘men of God’ are labouring to deny and distance themselves from the unholy largesse, I hope they remember the prophets of Baal in the scriptures.

Enters Ayo Fayose, the governor imposed on Ekiti State. This is a man who is totally bereft of ideas in modern governance. This is not how to govern. Governance requires more reflection than loquacious malingering. It is sad that Ekiti – the Fountain of Knowledge – is today saddled with a street boy as Number One. Ekiti people weep silently even though they maintain lowly smiles over the misadventure of Fayose’s Second Coming. Who will deliver the people from themselves? Fayose as governor in Ekiti State is the terrible case of the blind leading those that can see. The scripture spoke appallingly about the blind leading the blind. But there is no difference in Ekiti today. The blind leads the sighted. The Fountain of Knowledge is now the Fountain of Fools courtesy of the Jonathan and PDP rigging machine. How can the fool lead and infect the wise in folly all in the name of street and gutter politics. How can the wise follow the fool to the pit of destruction without protest.

Ekiti-kete does not deserve being ruled by a Fayose who was wrongly foisted on the People by a desperate Jonathan and and an imploding and sinking PDP. The people got who they did not elect. The military was used to maximum advantage during the election and the result of their choice is now more than glaring. Fayose has gone berserk.

His attacked a judge when he felt his dubious claim to power was about to be unravelled. He desecrated the judiciary when he allegedly led thugs to attack the judges of the Ekiti State High Court. Yet no sanction has been imposed by the Federal Government on the issue because of their criminal connivance. What kind of government would watch one of its arm being assaulted in such open brigandage without rising to protect the sanctity of its institutions? It is disheartening that such brazen attack on the judiciary has gone unpunished. The Chief Judge of Ekiti State had testified to the sordid invasion of the court and attack of the judges in a statement that his Chief Registrar issued on his behalf. According to the CJ: “The sitting (of the court) was disrupted and taken over. The judge was ferried to safety by police after he was threatened by the militants. On Thursday another set of thugs invaded the premises of a court presided over by J.O Adedeye by beating up and tearing his suit while policemen on guard looked unconcerned and uninterested… The court room of the Hon. Chief Judge was not spared in the orgy of assault and destruction as members of staff attached to his office were beaten up and his court record book torn into pieces by these political thugs who also invaded and disrupted proceedings at the election petition tribunal within the High Court premises in Ado Ekiti.”

In case you are wondering who is this man, Fayose is the protégé of the Jonathan administration, therefore he is above the law. If not, why has the Federal Government not deemed it necessary to probe an audio tape of how Fayose was rigged into office in Ekiti? Why have the military not responded to the tape the way they have reacted to Obasanjo’s statement? After initial denial Fayose has admitted that his voice was on that tape.

Today, Fayose has turned himself to a god. He now determines how long a man is to live on earth. The governor has published death-wish advertorials on General Muhammadu Buhari – the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming elections. Again not done with that, Fayose has again flew a kite that Buhari’s visit to London was to receive treatment. Again, Fayose has boasted thst Buhari will never be president in this country. This must be thoroughly investigated because I strongly believe that Fayose is acting a script and the earlier he is investigated the better. Nigerians will not tolerate anything untoward happening to Buhari at this time. Fayose and his cohorts should be made to steer clear of Buhari for good.

Another disturbing issue is the attempt by the Jonathan’s administration and the PDP to politicise and ultimately destroy our military. Why are we at a point today that elections cannot hold except we get a go ahead from the military? This is why I fail to understand the duty of Mr. President as Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Chief Security Officer of this country. Do we need to seek permission from the military to carry out the processes of our democracy? Democracy means the armed forces are subordinated to civilian rule. Why is this administration brazenly subverting what has served them so well due to fear of being rejected at the polls? They may think they have sufficiently ingratiated themselves with the military but they must be careful because the interest of the country is far greater than their selfish and parochial interest of clinging to power at all cost.

If they have performed like they want Nigerians to believe, let them show it. For those who care to know, the following are Jonathan’s true achievements so far: Jonathan met the National Debt at $26bn, today it is $70bn.. Jonathan met Excess Crude account at $20bn today is $2bn. Jonathan met unemployment rate at 11.8%, today it is 24%. Jonathan met debt servicing at 10%, today debt servicing today is 20%. Jonathan met the Naira/Dollar rate at N119. The Naira/Dollar rate today is N200 – N205. Jonathan met the poverty level 54%, today poverty level is about 71%. Jonathan met recurrent expenditure at 62%, today recurrent expenditure is 86%. Jonathan met the GDP Growth at 11%, today GDP Growth is about
6%. Jonathan met petrol price N65, today petrol price is N87 following its recent reduction from N97. Today the stock market that was thriving
before Jonathan came is down by N3.4trillion in 12 months.

This is why Nigerians deserve a change. This why Nigerians have elected to vote for change. Any voodoo attempt to subvert the processes of a legitimate election can only result into a catastrophe of unimaginable scale. Jonathan and the PDP cannot afford to lead this nation into a ruinous adventure in the name of tenure elongation or interim government. They cannot afford to criminally instigate the military to destroy a democracy they are meant to safeguard. Above all, the military cannot afford to bear the burden of aiding a civilian administration to scuttle democracy. It would be utterly denigrating to the military institution to again be accused of an unholy romance with elected office holders to the detriment of the country. We are witnessing a rebirth of the nation. The military should not lend itself to be used to stifle elections. Let the elections hold. Let the people decides.
