Again, Fulani Militia Attacks Suswam’s Village, Kills 30

Another fresh heinous attack by gunmen believed to be Fulani militia was carried out in Governor Gabriel Suswam’s village, in which no fewer than 30 persons were killed.
The heavily armed insurgents were said to have killed scores of the agrarian people including men, women and children. The attack was carried out in Kurungu, Tse Vir, Abur and Ageraga communities of Gaamber Tyev in Logo local government area of the state.
The attack came a few days after Suswam was defeated in the Benue North East senatorial zone of the state. The militia also set ablaze houses and destroyed other valuable properties, just as they killed three brothers of a former Makurdi Local Government Area acting chairman, Mr. Isaac Ageraga.
Scores of displaced farmers fled to Ugba town, the headquarters of Logo and Zaki-Biam in Ukum Local Government Area.
Eye witnesses said the assailants stormed the villages armed with dangerous and sophisticated weapons and charms. Eighteen corpses have so far been recovered in Kurungu and Abur communities.
The special assistant to the governor on media and publicity, Mr. Joseph Anawa who is an indigene of the affected community said the attack occurred at about 5am. He stated that the militia attacked the communities and quickly retreated
The police public relations officer, ASP Ezeani Ameachi confirmed the attack and said “several houses were burnt and corpses have also been recovered. The police and army have quickly taken charge of the affected areas to maintain peace.”
