Ballot Box Snatching Stuffing Prevalent In Akwa Ibom

Reports filtering in from Akwa Ibom State indicate the prevalence of snatching and snuffing of ballot boxes. The Punch reports that in Onna Local Government Area, voters are seen to be roaming about without being accredited as electoral materials have been hijacked. Electoral materials were reportedly being carted away in Akwa Ibom Transport Company buses labelled UDOM EMMANUEL. Emmanuel is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party. A visit to the house of the Chairman of the local government area, Ufot Sunday, also revealed that ballot boxes were being taken to his home in Onna. Voters alleged that electoral materials were being thumb printed in Sunday’s home. The Punch reported that security operatives also barricaded the streets leading to the LGA chairman’s home, preventing movement in the area.
