TAN Hails Buhari, Jonathan’s Statesmanship

Members of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) have congratulated and extended a hand of fellowship to the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP Friday yesterday in Abuja and signed by the national coordinator of TAN, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, the group applauded Gen Buhari for his doggedness and resilience which have finally earned him the position of Nigeria’s president-elect.
Meanwhile, TAN has also thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for displaying the spirit of sportsmanship by accepting the result of the election.
“We wish to congratulate the president-elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari for his consistency, persistence, doggedness and resilience since 2003 in his quest for the presidency of Nigeria. This shows that persistence on a mission yields success in the end. His courage will make a good case study in the universities all over the world.
“Also, we salute and commend President Goodluck Jonathan for laying the most solid foundation for the growth of democracy in Nigeria and Africa with his statesmanly act of conceding defeat to the president-elect, even before the whole results were declared. This act saved Nigeria from the plunges”, the statement reads in part.
Ubah further urged all TAN supporters within and outside the country to remain focused and law-abiding, adding that the group would continue to pursue its objectives of “public advocacy, humanitarian activities and employment generation for the youths”.
The pro-Jonathan group appealed to Nigerians to accept and respect the outcome of last Saturday’s presidential election in the interest of peace, progress, unity and development of the country, admonishing that “nobody should do anything to destabilize the unity, peace, order and good governance of Nigeria”.
