Jonathan Concedes Defeat, Promises Buhari Smooth Transition
Jonathan promised Buhari that he would cooperate with him in the transition process
The incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan, has conceded defeat in the country’s presidential election. Jonathan, according to reports on the British Broadcasting Corporation, The Nation newspaper and Daily Trust, has called his main challenger and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, by telephone to congratulate him. The Nation newspaper said Jonathan initiated the call to Buhari at exactly 5:15pm on Tuesday. Jonathan promised Buhari that he would cooperate with him in the transition process. He was said to have promised specifically to ensure a smooth transition.
