The Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in Osun State on Saturday disagreed over alleged shootings in Ilase, Obokun Local Government Area of the state, which were said to have scared away voters in some polling units. The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that some armed suspected political thugs had stormed the community at about 9.20am in three saloon cars and began shooting to scare away voters. Francis Fadahunsi, a PDP chieftain in the town, alleged in an interview with newsmen that the shootings were orchestrated by the APC to discourage voters from coming out to vote. Fadahunsi said a youth from the community was shot in the leg, while three of the assailants also sustained gunshot injuries before the police intervened and chased them away. But Wale Bolorunduro, a former Commissioner for Finance in the state and APC supervisor for the state constituency election in Obokun and Oriade Local Government Areas, debunked the claim. Bolorunduro said the APC was not responsible for the shootings in Ilase town. The spokesperson of the Osun Police Command, DSP Folashade Odoro, could not be reached as calls made to her phone were not picked.
