APC Chieftain Sues For Unity Among Plateau Indigenes

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State, Hon. Jock Alamba, has called on the various ethnic groups in Plateau State to unite and to do away with petty squabbles, communal clashes and the disunity that has plagued the state in recent years. Alamba, who is also the National Deputy Welfare Secretary of the party, stated this while speaking journalists in Jos, the capital city of Plateau State. According to him: “Let no one say I am not APC or I am not this or that. “Plateau belongs to all of us. “And let’s pray to God to deliver us from the culture of tribal agenda, nepotism, impunity, sectionalism and long years of deceit. “Let us no longer divide ourselves. “This is the time for unity among all Plateau ethnic groups.” The Berom elder, who was speaking on the heels of the recent victory of the APC in the Plateau State gubernatorial election, called on his fellow kinsmen to join hands with the incoming administration of the Governor-elect, Barrister Simon Lalong, who is from Shendam in Plateau South Senatorial District so as not to miss out in the scheme of things in the state. Alamba said: “As a Berom elder, let me call on my fellow kinsmen to come on board in the coming administration as this will show other Plateau people and indeed other interested Nigerians that Governor Jang’s agenda is not a Berom nation’s agenda as we cannot afford to alienate ourselves from the Plateau project, which is the project of the people as was proven in the just concluded governorship race in the state.” The people of the state have accused the outgoing administration of Governor Jonah Jang of the Peoples Democratic Party of exhibiting nepotism and impunity, especially in the distribution of capital projects and social amenities in the state. But the APC chieftain promised that the new administration will run an all inclusive government and will also welcome defectors heartily, adding: “I can assure you that Lalong, the governor-elect, will never behave like the outgoing government of the PDP as this will be an all inclusive government of the people, by the people and for the people. “No one should feel out of place as even the defectors will surely have their place as long as they conform to the wind of change, the will of the government of the day and that of the people.”
