Archbishop Nwator Passes On At 74

The Owiaken family of Alueken Community in Ogale clan of Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has announced with grief the demise of their husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, uncle and friend, Archbishop Friday Osaro Nwator. Nwator passed on to glory on April 6, 2015 following a brief illness. He was aged 74. Archbishop Nwator, a devout Christian, philanthropist and a United Kingdom trained medical doctor, was an Adviser on Health Matters to President Shehu Shagari; National President of the Nigerian Medical Association; and the Founder, Health Services Department of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt. The late Nwator holds the national honour of the Order of the Niger, was a member of the Constituent Assembly in the Second Republic and the Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Rivers State. He is survived by a wife and four children. Among the children is Dominic Nwator, a Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission. He also has six grand children and host of relations. A statement by the Chief Mourner, Dominic Nwator, said the burial is fixed for May 23, 2015 in Ogale, Eleme.
