We Are Ready For Saturday Poll In Ekiti – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti State has said the House of Assembly election in the state will hold in all the 26 local governments across the state. The clarification followed fear being expressed in some quarters that election might not take place in the state due to the recent political crisis in the state in recent time occasioned by anti-impeachment protesters. During the protest, which lasted three days, supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party blocked all entrances to the state and also paralysed economic activities while the crisis lasted. The Public Relations Officer of INEC, Taiwo Gbadegeshin, told journalists in Ado Ekiti that only genuine voters with Permanent Voter Cards should come to the voting centres to vote, urging voters to conduct themselves peacefully. Gbadegeshin appealed to the people of the state to cooperate with INEC to ensure free and fair poll. Gbadegeshin said card readers would be used in the Saturday’s election, adding that defects identified during the presidential election on March 28 had been taken care of. The PRO said the commission was fully prepared for the election.
