REAL MADRID | CRISTIANO RONALDO Cristiano breaks own record of goals in first half of season

The Portuguese, with 25 strikes, equalled the record of goals scored by matchday 15 and now shares it with Pruden (Atlético, 1940-41) and Bata (Athletic, 1930-31).

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to break records. The Real Madrid striker scored twice during Friday night’s match against Almería and has now reached the 25-goal mark in La Liga this season. That double means the Portuguese has now beaten his own record for most Liga goals scored in the first half of the campaign. In the 2011/12 season, Cristiano had scored 23 goals by the end of matchday 19, but his brace against Almería means he has now scored 25 goals in just 15 matchdays.

This also means he has equalled the record of goals scored by matchday 15, which he now shares with former Atlético Madrid player Pruden (who achieved the same tally in 1940-41) and one-time Athletic Club man Bata (who did the same in 1930-31).
Lionel Messi currently holds the record for most goals scored in the first half of a Liga season having scored 28 by matchday 19 in 2012-13. To make this record his own, Cristiano has to score four times in the next four Liga matchdays.
And on a related note, the Real Madrid forward has now reached the tally of 60 goals or more for the fourth year in a row. He scored 60 (53 Real Madrid, 7 Portugal) in 2011, 63 (58 Real Madrid, 5 Portugal) in 2012, 69 (59 Real Madrid, 10 Portugal) in 2013 and 61 (56 Real Madrid, 5 Portugal) this year.
