Despite the fact that the Real Madrid operation is centred at the moment in Rabat for the Club World Cup, the club is not going to lose sight of other matters, and is still working on getting another player during the winter transfer window.
The favourite is Lucas Silva, of Brazilian side Cruzeiro, and the deal could go through this week. Real Madrid are still keen to get Silva for €12 million, whereas Cruzeiro are insisting on €15 million, and this €3 million difference is something that Real Madrid are going to be working on dealing with this week to seal the player's signature.
In fact Real Madrid are confident of getting the player's agreement for the figure they have already offered, though everyone knows how tough Brazilian clubs can be when negotiating. All the same, the situation is not an impossible one and nothing will happen that will put the brakes on Lucas Silva coming to Madrid.
And so the signing looks like being completed this week, even though Ancelotti has reservations about the player adapting during the month of January. But there is an alternative, and that is Christoph Kramer, currently on loan to Borussia Moenchengladbach from Bayer Leverkusen, and prising him away is not likely to be all that simple.
In the past few days, and coinciding with the Real Madrid envoy's visit to Germany, a third meeting has taken place with Kramer's agent. As on previous occasions, the outcome was positive even though Real Madrid's interest in Lucas Silva is well-known.
