Torres and AC Milan: divorce on cards for January

Torres and AC Milan: divorce on cards for January

After two consecutive matches on the bench, against Udinese and Genoa, Fernando Torres wasn't even named in the Milan squad to play Rafa Benítez's Napoli, a match which the side led by Pippo Inzaghi won 2-0.
The official version is that the forward was left out due to flu, but it's worth noting that in recent weeks rumours have been multiplying about the Spaniard possibly return to England. José Mourinho has been quick to state that there's no space for him at Chelsea, but the English media have commented that Liverpool miss Torres.
Milan's vice-president Adriano Galliani also spoke about the current crisis saying, "Torres has been unlucky since he came here and I think he can be an important player for Milan".
However, he seemed to contradict himself shortly afterwards when asked about the transfer window, "I don't think that Torres will leave Milan in January, but the market is always unpredictable".
Galliani's words may well remind 'Rossoneri' fans of similar situations. Silvio Berlusconi's right-hand man spoke along the same lines in 2009, prior to the departure of Kaká to Real Madrid, and likewise in 2012 when Thiago Silva packed his bags and headed to PSG of France. Torres could yet follow the same path in the next transfer window.
