Barcelona Crises Again - Bartomeu announces end-of-season elections

CONFIRMED IN PRESS CONFERENCE

Bartomeu appeared before the media to discuss the current events embroiling Barcelona.

"We have decided to call elections at the end of the season. I ask that the candidates demonstrate fair play and support the team over this time until the campaign. The most important thing is that we achieve sporting success".

Term in office:"I said in January that I intended to end my term in office in 2016. This club needs stability and calm, for people to complete their terms in office. I took the decision, although I shared it with fellow board members. It is down to me to make the decisions".

Zubizarreta:"We have worked side by side for a long time - even more so before. This restructuring was planned. The changes will be judged at the end of the season. There has been a loss of confidence in recent weeks".

Replacement:"The new director of football will be someone who is or has been part of the club. We want someone with Barça's DNA".

Luis Enrique:"He has a project and we have no doubt that he is the right man".

Messi:"We have no concerns with him. He has a contract and we signed a new deal with him a few months ago. Messi is happy at Barcelona and he shows it on the pitch. He is not the Messi of last year. He's ambitious and enthusiastic".

Disciplinary proceedings:"It's completely false. Whoever released that was trying to damage the club".

Sanction:"Zubizarreta has nothing to do with the FIFA sanction and is in no way involved in the issue".
