Football - Modric on the move in Belgium

Modric on the move in BelgiumLuka Modric is spending the beginning of 2015 in Antwerp with a view to stepping up his bid to return to action.

The Croat is working intensively under the guidance of reputed kinesitherapist Lieven Maesschalck. The midfielder travelled out to the City of Diamonds a few days ago and is glimmering with hope that his efforts there will enable him to train alongside his teammates when he heads back to Valdebebas.
Modric is expected to spend a couple of weeks in the north of Belgium, going all out physically practically all day, now that he has been cleared to make such exertions. What this means is that the stem-cell treatment he underwent in Vitoria has borne fruit and now he has opted to undergo the gym phase of his recovery under the supervision of Maesschalck, who was recommended to him by a number of people.
The specialist visited Real Madrid's training ground back in early December to touch base with Modric and it was decided that, depending on his progress, the 29-year-old would complete part of his recovery at the Belgian's popular Move to Cure clinic.
Carlo Ancelotti stated a few weeks ago that Modric would resume full training sometime in January, but his comeback will not be rushed and no one is expecting him to feature until February at least. In fact, in the former Tottenham man's words, the aim is for him to be "ready for the key battles" later in the season.
