James Rodríguez's status as Colombia's man of the year 2014 has now even been confirmed by the country's National Registry.
The Registry published a report on 31st December in which it revealed that the Real Madrid star's name was one of the most popular baby names amongst Colombian parents throughout 2014. 'Jamesmania' is definitely on the up.
According to the Colombian National Registry: "James or James Daniel, James Jampier, James David, Jhon James and James de Jesús were some of the most popular baby names throughout 2014". The former Monaco and Porto schemer's performances during last summer's World Cup and a subsequent move to Real Madrid - where he is having a great season - have all helped to boost his popularity over the last six months.
James is a footballing role model and an advertising icon. Like Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham, he already has his own underwear line, called J10, which is part of the Colombian brand Bronzini. "We chose James Rodríguez as the face of Bronzini Black because he has his own unique style, is full of self-belief and is a constant source of surprise", said the Colombian company, which has produced a run of 250,000 articles of clothing carrying the Real Madrid man's name.
James also has his own soft drink. It's an energy drink called Gold 10 which is a huge hit in Colombia, especially amongst younger football fans.
