Sport: 2015, the year CR7 will become Real's no. 1

2015, the year CR7 will become Real's no. 1This year should witness a power shift in Real Madrid's history. It is no longer a question of if Cristiano Ronaldo will rise to the summit of the club's all-time scoring charts, but simply of when he will do so. The Portuguese ace, whose goalscoring prowess was a bolt out of the blue when he made the switch to the Bernabéu six years ago, now stands within striking distance of Santillana, Alfredo Di Stéfano and Raúl.

With 285 goals to his name for 'Los Blancos', CR7 is just three away from equalling Santillana, known as one of the greatest ever headers of the ball. Given his strike rate and unyielding appetite, he may very well surpass the legend in the first week of January, moving third in the club's list of scorers in the process.
A few basic calculations suffice to try to figure out how long the Portuguese talisman will take to claim top spot. He is 22 goals away from Di Stéfano's tally of 307 and is scoring 1.28 goals a game this season, meaning that he will surpass the Blond Arrow within 18 matches if he continues his current rate. Again, assuming he doesn't tail off, he will then dethrone Raúl, who scored 323 times for the club, within ten more appearances.
There is enough of the season left for Ronaldo to seize the crown this very campaign, and he is also on track to become the club's top La Liga marksman even sooner.
